About us

ABOUT NOURISH

Our mission is to provide mothers with wholesome foods for the tender early postpartum days.

Gentle and nurturing care for the new mother is essential to postpartum healing.

In today’s world however, our culture has neglected the needs of new mothers. After being showered with attention during her pregnancy, the new mother finds herself home alone with her newborn, piles of never ending laundry, a fresh c-section or the need to sit on a cushion , hormones going haywire and no relief in sight.

Nourish is here to help you get through the physically, mentally and emotionally exhausting first few weeks home with your baby by making sure you get the nutritious food which may help heal your body, recover from labor and increase energy levels. A proper diet may also help reduce potential postpartum depression*.

Our menus are specifically designed to be gentle on your body and digestive system :

  • Warm and highly digestible foods*
  • Nutrient dense*
  • Collagen rich broths*
  • Hydrating beverages and new mama snacks*

*These statements have not been approved by the FDA and are not meant to diagnose or treat

Each ingredient is thoughtfully sourced and lovingly prepared to ensure the highest nutritional value in each bite.

You can think of us as your very own postpartum personal chef, preparing you fully cooked, refrigerated meals, broths, soups, snacks and beverages. Simply heat and eat.

ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Sandra Antunes

My passion for food started at a young age. I was born and raised in France to a French mother and a Sicilian father. Both of my parents are amazing cooks and both of my grandmothers were chefs and there was never a family gathering that didn’t include delicious nourishing food.

nourish_with_the_twinsI went on to graduate from culinary school in France and worked my way through the demanding path of Michelin starred restaurants around the world.

When I was pregnant with our twins, I was very fortunate that my mother was able to come to the US for a whole month. It worked out perfectly as she was with me two weeks before the birth, ensuring I was getting all the energy and nutrition I needed through her lovingly prepared meals and two weeks postpartum, at which point my father had also joined us, again, feeding myself and my family and helping us stay afloat.

Parallel to that, a friend who had just become a mother herself shared the wisdom of her experience and urged me to fill my freezer to the brim with homemade, ready to eat frozen meals.

That might have been the most insightful piece of advice I ever received.

Her advice, combined with the crucial help from my parents alleviated some of the stress of the early, sleep deprived postpartum days.

Fast forward through the first year of my motherhood journey as a stay at home mother. I knew that if I were to work in my industry again, I would help other mothers as they transition into motherhood doing what do best : cooking.

This is how Nourish was born. New and experienced mothers, as well as their growing families, need and deserve healthy and nourishing foods after welcoming a new baby. Nourish will provide just that.

TESTIMONIALS

The Nourish meals couldn’t have been more perfect in my first few weeks as a new mama.

Sandra ticked all the boxes, making them nutritious, delicious and accessible.

Even more than the food itself, I felt cared for and supported at the most critical time and in the most thoughtful way.

I would add this to the list of must-haves for new mamas.

THE NOURISH FOOD WAS SO GOOD !

We really loved all of it. What a great idea. And really soooo delicious.

Even our toddler son loved the salmon.

The Nourish food is transcendental !

Nourish is providing an essential service to families in our community. I am looking forward to seeing this business grow.

My experience with Nourish started 2 years postpartum.

It started with a food born illness and I think exacerbated by anxiety during the pandemic. I was sick and eating very little – nothing felt good, I got full easily and lost 20+ pounds in two months.

After months of tests, ruling out serious illnesses and no clear guidance on how to get better, shifting my diet to try many different approaches, I felt lost, weak and overwhelmed, all while caring for my two year old.  I am a trained cook and it was hard because I felt shame asking for help but I wasn’t sure how to take care of myself. I was depleted and didn’t have the energy to cook.

I found out about Nourish and reached for a lifeline.

Sandra worked with me on dietary restrictions, used her knowledge of postpartum nutrition that made sense for my situation and delivered meals and snacks and truly helped me get my appetite and strength back.

Sandra is a true gift and so talented.

Prepped meals with whole foods, simple and delicious ingredients, everything fresh and local when possible, accessible and packaged with care. I truly was re-nourished and I am beyond grateful for Sandra’s expertise and thoughtfulness.

Postpartum or not, good food heals and is an expression of Love.
